With the sun shining and the heat starting to come back along with a stunning course it was a great day for the youngsters and adults to pitch their wits against the Ferndown Course. The course as ever was in great condition and would prove to be a stern test for all. It was a much improved entry from last year after a prompt club Newsletter.
Geoff Cotton was once more here to try and win the Bunny Cotton Trophy he donated to remember his brother some 22 years ago, and with last year’s winners also back to defend their trophy it was set to be a good day. Once more Geoff and his young partner Joseph Wickham tried sadly it was not to be but I am sure Geoff will be back next year for another attempt. Elliott and Simon Over were the early leaders with a fine 37 points. Lewis and Jonathan Young Folke took over with a fine 38 points which was then matched by Diane & George Thompson and they moved to the top on countback. Girl power saw Angie and Charlotte Brook come in with a fine 39 points which was to prove too much for the rest of the field allowing the Parkstone pair to be crowned 2019 Adult /Junior Champions taking the Bunny Cotton Trophy.
The team event was a tight contest with Wareham holding the lead on 70 for a long time until Dudsbury came in with a team total of 74 to take the lead. Sadly for them the last card in was Jonathan Fretton & Ben Dawson with a fine 36 and pushing Diane & George Thompson with Crispian & Matthew Filer Ferndown A team to the top by one point taking the Team Shield.
We thank Ferndown for hosting this event the course was excellent as was the catering afterwards which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
