County Inter-Club Mens FoursomesJason Cooke & Gareth Hawkins Inter-Club Champions

Ferndown GC 08 October 2017

Ferndown was in great condition for the Eighty plus players from around the County all bidding to be this year’s Inter-Club Foursomes Champions.  The weather was set fair and the sun shone as we got under way.  The scratch pairs went out first with the home pair of Harry Mitchell and Phil Bill leading the way and setting the pace with a fine level par 71 which was equalled shortly afterwards by Parkstone’s Morgan Taylor and James Durrant.  Lyme’s Steve  & Ian Mudford reached the fourteenth 4 under only to see it slip away badly over the last five holes finishing on 73.  Jason Cooke and Gareth Hawkins from Bournemouth & Meyrick played some steady golf to come home in one under to taking the Trophy and becoming the Inter-Club Foursome Champions.

Mike Gibbons and Andrew Keel Inter-Club Handicap ChampionsIn the handicap event the players as always found the format tough but it is always a great experience and scoring was good.  Our own President with Michael Savage  led the way and had a very respectable  72.5 score which held the lead for a short while until it was equalled by the Weymouth pairing of Brad Davis & Luke Shaw who pipped them on countback.  The next leaders were Jake and Mark Jordan with a fine 71.5 they held the lead right through until the pairing of Mike Gibbons and Andrew Keel from Rushmore handed in there card which was a net 68 taking the Salvers to become this year’s County Inter-Club Handicap Foursome Champions.
