The Junior Knockout played over the past months came to it's conclusion at Weymouth yesterday on possibly the wettest day of the year so far. Lyme Regis were up against the young guns of Sturminster Marshall and it proved to be a good tussle between the players Matt Keel got Sturminster under way with a fine 3&2 win over Sophie Keech young Michael Chapman impressed with some fine golf and a 4&3 win over Jolly Bugg Amy and Andrew ground out good halves. The newly crowned under 13 Champion David Lyon then won 2&1 so it was down to the last match which saw Joel Sandford win 3&2 to put Sturminster into the final.
The other semi saw old rival Broadstone versus Ferndown who brought three of their girl contingent, Georgia Hall saw off Jordan Howlett and Francesca also beat mark Sandford. David Steward ground out a good halve after being dormy three and when Harry Hill and Taylor Hopkins both won it was all square but Ferndown had the upper hand in the last match as Connor Smith beat young Anicka Sufraz 4&3 to set up a Sturminster / ferndown Final.

With the rain lashing the Secretary and President armed with squeegees went out to ensure the final was completed and to the players credit they did extremely well in very poor conditions. The Ferndown team handle the rain better, Georgia soon beat Matt Keel 5&3 conversely Michael Chapman had another good win seeing off Francesca4&2 Amy Curnow held her own and got a fine halve with Jack Rice. Oscar did not like the rain and it was an early "bath" going down 9&8 and when Connor beat Joel 6&5 it was hand shakes all round and congratulations to the Ferndown team on becoming this years champions. They now go to Trevose and I am sure you will all join me in wishing them every success.
