Congratulations to Mel Simmons and Ken Lowey on winning this years Order of Merit both will receive a decanter at one of the Christmas Meetings.
The fifth meeting of the DCGA got under way at Came Down GC and as always the course was in excellent condition, we were also blessed with a very sunny day and some stunning views across the Dorset country side. For once the early starters seemed not to score well and the best in the am group was Alan Stone and Gerry woods from Sherborne with 41 points with Dudsbury pair Paul Sheppard and John Smith coming in with 38. The PM group saw scoring higher but the winners Stuart and Martin from Weymouth still only had 41 points but this was followed by two 39 point pairings from Broadstone in Percy and Peter along with Chris and Steve (DG&CC) We now look forward to going to Dudsbury on Wednesday 16 September 2009.
The fourth meeting of the DCGA got under way at Sherborne GC and as the always the course was in excellent condition and with the clouds breaking and the sun coming through the day was set for some good golf. The early starters seemed to score better and that be that the wind got up at lunchtime making it a much more challenging for the late starters. Three pairs finished with 40 points David Snook & Brian Hopkins IOP, Jeremy Fearon & Phil Boddy Canford Magna along with Brian Matthews & John Guppy Canford School. We look forward to seeing more of you at the Came Down meeting on the 19 August 2009.
The third meeting of the DCGA got under way at the always excellent and challenging Yeovil Old Course. With some 60 golfers a the weather a little unkind to the later starters the scoring again proved to be high with Allan Jones and Bob Hodson producing the best of the day on 41 points the afternoon saw two pairs from Canford Magna both come home with 40 points. We look forward to seeing more of you at the Sherborne meeting on the 09 July 2009.
After a week of strong winds it was pleasing to see it pretty calm as the second DCGA meeting got under way at the beautiful and challenging Lyme Regis course. With some 60 golfers a little down on normal times due to a clash with a Seniors open the scoring again proved to be high and previous DCGA regulars Brian Matthews and John Guppy had a fantastic day amassing a 46 point total. We look forward to seeing more of you at the next meeting being to be held at Yeovil on the 17 June 2009
On a wet April morning the first DCGA event got under way with a tremendous field of 64 golfers. The weather did not dampen the scoring with 6 pairs making it into the forties. Our thanks to Knighton Heath GC for the use of the course and to the DCGA members who continue to support and enjoy the days golf.
