Dorset County Golf Union - Inter-Club Men's Foursomes
Yeovil GC 04 October 2009
On an overcast morning the County Inter-Club Foursomes got under way and with a superb field with more clubs entering this year it was set to be a fine competition. Three time winners John Pounder and Gary Earl from Yeovil led the way with father and Son pairing Tony and Tom Lawrence from Sherborne.Tony Tom 1.jpg Tom put the ball off the tee in no mans land leaving dad to play another from the tee and it had a double written all over it, this was followed by a par then a bogey at the third but what followed then was some superb golf to be seven under for the remaining fifteen holes and a four under total of 67 and the club house lead.
The Weymouth pairing of Calvin Drage and Jon Welch were the closest to them with a fine level par round of golf.
Congratulations to Tony and Tom Lawrence on becoming the 2009 Inter-Club Foursome Champions.
The handicap section also had some good scores with Gary Wilshaw and Stuart Redgrave leading the way coming home in 78Ben Matt.jpg a net 72 Then came Ben Miller and Matt Lambert from Folke GC with an 82 net 70 to take the clubhouse lead which they held onto and gave Folke its first County Champions. With only a small membership this is a remarkable achievement and our sincere congratulations to both the players and club.
I would like to thank all the clubs that took part making this a very successful event and let us keep this going for 2010 as we go to Weymouth GC.
