Dorset County

Our last friendly match, before our South East League campaign starts against Hampshire on the 13th May at Ferndown, saw Dorset take on BB&O at a well presented Broadstone. The morning foursomes didn’t go quite to plan as the only winners were the new pairing of Tom Leech and Tom Robson. Their 4&3 win was the only highlight of a poor morning which left us in the familiar position of 3-1 down at lunch.
The afternoon singles got off to the fast start that was required with Jon Welch leading from the front with a fine 3&1 win. The next two games also won comfortably putting us back in a competitive position. BB&O came back strongly though to win the next four games and the match despite the reliable Tom Leech wining in his familiar anchor-man role.
With the team achieving a creditable 4-4 scoreline in the singles it shows how important the morning foursomes are. We really must start the afternoon singles from at least parity to really put pressure on the opposing teams.
