On a blustery and at times overcast day the Colts set out to improve on the results of their previous matches against Sussex at a wonderfully presented Weymouth GC. In the morning foursomes Fraser and Robbie were up at the turn but their opponents then edged back and by the seventeenth were 1 up but a great birdie on the last by the Dorset pair secured a half point. Dominic and George struggled after losing the first with their opponents going out of bounds of the tee and as hard as they tried their opponents just never let them back in. Jordan and Ollie were also down early and never got back into it. The last pair out were the Weymouth brother Tom and Andrew Robson who seemed to be in control through nine but some great play by their opponents saw this also slip and it was all over after the sixteenth so only half a point in the foursomes, it is a hard lesson but we do need to start taking advantage of a Saturday Practice! After a hearty lunch the team were keen to get back out to try and turn the situation around and early indications were very encouraging with all but two up or level at the turn, but crossing the road seemed to fire up the opponents and by the time they came back to cross the road again our fortunes had changed somewhat. Fraser lost and then Robbie secured a good halve, the up and coming Tom Robson put another fine win under his belt as did Ollie Hayter who made it two single wins out of two. Jordan, George and Dominic all went down but great credit to Andrew Robson who fought back from two down after fourteen to get a halve. So it was a loss but the match was played in Great Spirit and was thoroughly enjoyed by all, special thanks to Weymouth GC who looked after both teams with some excellent hospitality and a superb course and our thanks also to club Captain Dave Picton for his support.
