Dorset hosted Surrey on a glorious day at Remedy Oak which was presented superbly, and all the players appreciated playing on such a fine venue.
Colin Lazell made his debut for Dorset playing top and had a very good game against Ian Baker, finally losing 1 down after a hard-fought match.
Most of the games were closely fought through the afternoon with two early wins for Mike Spearing, 5 / 4 against Keith Watel and Dave Barton 6 / 5 against Martin Slumbers. The match was finely poised at a result looking at 5 all but due to a remarkable come back from John Busby who was five down with 6 to play, managed to get a half point meaning that Dorset won its first league match this year 5 ½ and 4 ½ against Surrey which is a fine result and a good win before we go off to the National Finals in October.
