Dorset County

This friendly match for the Jock Lawrence Quaich is the traditional opening  of  the Dorset Seniors season. Wiltshire currently have more victories than Dorset but this gap was reduced by a convincing win;  Dorset 5.5 to Wiltshire 0.5.

Last year’s match at Kingsdown was abandoned due to bad weather and we had fears for this match because many of us drove through heavy showers on the way to the course following heavy overnight rain. By the time of the first match, however, the  sun had come out and we had lovely weather for the match if a little humid. All of the matches were close; four of them going to the final green. One match worthy of mention was probably the halved match where Dave Barton and  Mike Mudford recovered from dormie two down to gain a half point.
