This was the first league match of 2016 and it resulted in a loss 4-6 to Sussex.
There had been heavy overnight rain but by the time of the match there were only light showers which ceased completely on the back 9 holes. We were supported by the President, past President and past Captain but in the end we were outplayed by a stronger team. (Their number 9 played off of 2 handicap compared to our 4).
This was our strongest team for two years and so, with home advantage, I had high hopes of a positive result. Our top matches played well and we won 3 of the top 4 contests. (Dave Barton, Mark Davies and John Smith). However, we only gained one more point from the remaining six matches; a fine 3/2 victory by Selwyn Burke.
Our next match is against Surrey at Remedy Oak on June 13th.
