Following a very testing practice round on the Monday with the wind gusting up to 60 mph along the cliff top we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at Whitsan Bay for the match as the wind had dropped and the forecast was good.
Our 1st pairing for the foursomes was Adam Harris and Kailin Woodland, the front nine could have gone either way but Adam and Kailin dominated on the back nine and came in with a 4&2 win. Next out was Oscar Perry and Sam Brooke, they lost the first hole but then went on to take charge and win the next couple of holes and never looked back winning 5&4.
Then Mark Rankin and Billy Hathway took on the challenge and never seemed to look in trouble as they complimented each other and romped in 4&2 winners. Last out was Cameron Moss and Matt Dare, this was the closest of the foursomes but our boys stuck to their guns and both played out of their skins to win 2&1.
Then came the singles with Adam out first who was obviously in a hurry to get home as his impeccable play gave him an 8&7 victory. Billy was in control of his match and managed to close out with a 5&4 win and all the other matches were a bit closer. Sam was down all the way but managed to get back to all square through 17 and then won the 18th for a great turn around. Marks game was close but he was always in control and won 3&1. Oscar and Matt were both up for most of their game but ended with a 1/2 . Kailin and Cameron also had similar matches being 4 down for the most of the game but neither of them gave up and managed to scramble a couple of holes back but sadly left it too late.
Great start to the season well done to all !!!!
Cheers
Mark
