For 5 of the squad this was their county debut and for some the nerves got the better of them in the opening few holes. Although going down early in a number of the foursomes matches the boys rallied well and all the games were close in the end. Rhys & Sam were very unfortunate to lose their last hole to only half however newbies Brad & Alex enjoyed a large victory on their debut.
I was very confident after the foursomes that the boys would come good and turn around the deficit in the afternoon. Slow starts however from too many of the boys made life hard work. Unfortunately the putting seemed to make the difference with too many of our lads missing from short distance. Notable performances came from Rhys Harrison who won his singles. Going out 3rd might be a little hard for most 10 year olds but Rhys won with a fine up & down on the last. Alex Johnson also had a great day and went home unbeaten after a 3&2 singles victory.
All in all a reasonable day but work to do for most of the lads if we are to retain the league later in the year!
