Dorset County

On a bright and sunny day at Parkstone the final pre-season practice match for Dorset was played against against Parkstone Golf Club. The team met in the morning for short game and range practice followed by lunch with the Parkstone team. The afternoon format consisted of 18 holes foursomes after lunch with each match being played to a conclusion and with holes won and lost deciding the end result.

The first match had the Parkstone pair playing some excellent golf, completing the back nine in 4 under par to finish 2 up on Dorset. The second match was again a closely contested affair with 2 late birdies securing a 3 hole advantage for Dorset. The final 2 matches again produced excellent sub par golf resulting in a 2 up and 3 up result for Dorset respectively.

The overall score was a 6 up lead in favour of Dorset.

My thanks go out to Dan Frost for his usual excellent coaching, the president John Calver for his continued support and Parkstone Golf Club for accommodating us and for giving up their time on a bank holiday weekend at short notice when our pre-arranged friendly was cancelled. This has given us vital preparation before our first East league match against Hampshire at Hockley next week.
