Dorset County

The match venue, hospitality and weather were of the highest quality.  The result was very disappointing; Dorset could not have fielded a stronger team but were up against a much changed Surrey squad with 3 new recruits from the pro ranks. Seven of the ten matches were decided on the last hole so the contest was closer than the score line suggests.  The course needed some local knowledge and with only four of the team taking advantage of the arranged practice it was noticeable that our two wins came from those four players.  The contours of the course made certain shots and lies to holes difficult to pick and the greens were the fastest we have played on this year.
