This sunday we resumed our annual friendly match against the Army.
It was 10 a side  and the morning foursomes kicked off with Giles Legg and David Cook taking on Mark Snape and Richard Over. This was a good scoring match with birdies being exchanged with Dorset prevailing 2/1.
The second match saw the experienced Tom Leech and Dean Barnes win 3/2 over Al Patterson and Ben Churchill. Tom Robson and Tom Peacock played some fine golf in a 7/6 win as did Robbie Mabb and Fraser Dawson winning 6/5 respectively.
The final match was a closely contested affair with the Army holing a vital putt on the last green to see the match ending all square.

So to the singles with Dorset taking a 4 1/2 to 1/2 lead.

David Cook took on Ben Churchill in the top match with holes exchanging throughout. This finished all square as did the second match involving Tom Leech and Richard Over.
Tom Robson also had a close match against Mark Snape with Tom winning 1up. Match four saw Tom Peacock come up against some fine golf eventually succumbing 2/1.
Fraser Dawson continued his fine form of late winning 4/3 and the newly crowned county champion Aaron Crabb came up against come excellent golf from the Army Captain Al Patterson who was 5 under par defeating Aaron 5/4. Giles Legg again played good golf winning 2/1 in match 7 as did Robbie Mabb winning 7/6 in match eight.
The final two matches say Harry Mitchell and Dean Barnes winning 1up and 2/1 respectively.

This was an excellent result for Dorset and we thank the Army for playing us and continuing the annual fixture especially as last years match was cancelled due to bad weather.
