Award winning & experienced Head Professional, Mike Dodd started his academy in 2006 and currently has 5 coaches teaching a number of children every week.

Mike & the team run a lot of kids/parents events and have 70 junior members at the club. Regular competitions are organised at academy & club level so the pathway to success is amazing at Sturminster Marshall, with the members understanding the need to develop junior golf.

Academy lessons run all year and all children receive an academy folder, bitesize work book & notes section. The system allows kids to develop by passing levels and collecting a huge number of stickers for achieving a number of golf related tasks & practice.

Mike was awarded the Sinclair Award in 2003 for services to junior golf by the Golf Foundation and the club has been nominated again this year for national Junior club of the year. 2023 was a special year for Mike, deserved winner of The Participation & Development award from England Golf.

Recently, Mike organised and delivered a superb 'Junior Workshop' on behalf of Dorset County Golf, for those wanting to improve junior golf at their club. Watch this space for details about Mike's next Workshop.

The current Dorset County Girls Head Coach, a position held for the last 10 years, Mike is fully committed to County Golf.
