For the older boys Jordan Howlett shot a creditable 78 with two 80’s to follow from Billy-Joe and Alex. However the best four scores amounted to 319, collectively 35 strokes over par. The Under 14 squad fared little better with George Seed clocking up a 79 and the other two failing to better 85. As the best of the Under14 scores counted towards the team championship we totalled 398 to comfortably achieve 6th place.
The team championship, the David King Trophy was won by Somerset with a total of 370, beating Devon into second place by two strokes. The Eric Scott-Cooper Cotswold Ram was won by Ben Amor, Wiltshire, with a splendid gross 66. Will Warman, Somerset, won the Ray Lawford Trophy for the best scratch Under14 score with a 75, and Jake Finn of Cornwall won the Best Under14 Net with a 68. It would be fair to say that apart from two scores our boys did not play to their potential. Back to the drawing board!!
