Seniors Championship – 24 June 2009 – Isle of Purbeck GC

john_1The 2009 Seniors Championship was at the very picturesque Isle of Purbeck and with the sun shining brightly the views from around the course were stunning.  The course proved to be a great challenge for most of the players with a considerable number of no returns and only 3 players breaking 80.  John Nash County Seniors ChampionJohn Nash from Broadstone GC again proved how good he is by returning a gross 73 some five shots better than second placed Nigel Green and Chris Dennis.  John retained his title for the third year and was crowned the Seniors Champion for 2009.   Second spot went to Chris Dennis last years County Captain.  The cup was presented by Doug Pratt County Vice President in the absence of the President on business.

Finally may I thank all the players for entering and ask all Seniors to give it a try next year.  I find it astonishing that a County such as Dorset can not get 60 plus seniors into such a Championship.  If only two from each club were to enter I would have 66!!  I am sure each and every club has many good senior players who could grace such an occasion. Come on stop hiding and let's see some more at Broadstone next year.
