This event seems to be finding all the worst weather last year it was torrential rain this year super strong winds and heavy showers were the order of the day on the cliff tops of lyme for this year’s Inter-Club Mixed Foursomes and the course whilst in great condition was getting battered with leaves and twigs by the hour as the wind gust got stronger. Credit to all the players who turned out and completed the their round and the Championship.
The Scratch trophy was up for grabs as last year's Champions were not back to defend the Trophy so it was the home pair Melissa McMahon and Steve Mudford who felt they werevrobbed last year making sure the Trophy returned to Lyme Regis once more taking it for the second time in three years with a fine 75 seven shots clear of Ashley Woods Steve sanger and Georgina Wrixon.
Congratulations to Melissa & Steve on becoming the 2019 Inter-Club Mixed Champions.
The Handicap section was well contested with 15 clubs partaking in this year's competition. Scoring as is normal proved difficult with players finding it tough going in the wind and showers that said Graham and Perdita Collins took over the clubhouse lead from Barbara & David Leonard Parkston with a fine 34 points but the last pair in Simon Legg & Sue Pride Isle of Purbeck who obviously thrive on the wind pipped them with 35 points to take the handicap Championship.
Congratulations to Sue & Simon on becoming the 2019 Inter-Club Mixed Handicap Champions.
Congratulations to all who took part and we hope you enjoyed your day. We along with the players also thank Lyme Regis GC and it’s members for allowing us the use of their course for the Championship.
Next year we will be at Sherborne GC on Saturday 16 August 2020 so come on let us see more clubs taking part.
