County Inter-Club Mens FoursomesChampions Matt Sandy & Lewis Coward

Wareham GC 30 September 2018

Wareham was in good condition for the players from around the County all bidding to be this year’s Inter-Club Foursomes Champions.  The weather was set fair and the sun shone as we got under way.  The scratch entry was poor to say the least but we still had a great tussle between those clubs taking part.  The early clubhouse leaders were home pairing of Phil Allen and Kevin Knott with a fine 73.   Matt Sandy and Lewis Coward from Sherborne played some fine steady golf to come home with a 71 two better than the home pair and taking the  Trophy to become the Inter-Club Foursome Champions.

Congratulations to Matt & Lewis on becoming the 2018 Inter-Club Foursome Champions.

In the handicap event the players as always found the format tough but it is always a great experience and scoring was good.  TMike Gibbons and Andrew Keelhe Dudsbury pair led the way with a fine 69.5 half a shot better than the Canford School pair of Paul Fowell and Steve Rattue with the Wareham pair of Chris Davies-Hills & Ryan Kelly on 72.5.  The best was to come at the end when the Rushmore pair of Mike Gibbons and Andrew Keel who came to defend their Championship did so with a fine net 69 to take it by a half shot, a first as they have retained their title retaining the Southcombe Salvers and the title of  County Inter-Club Handicap Foursome Champions.
