With the sun shining and the heatwave again building it was a great day for the youngsters and Adults to pitch their wits against the Dudsbury Course. The course as ever was in great condition and would prove to be a stern test for all. It was a very disappointing entry and only a last minute rally allowed the competition to continue.
Geoff Cotton was once more here to try and win the Bunny Cotton Trophy he donated to remember his brother, and with last year’s winners also back to defend their trophy it was set to be a good day.not back this year a new pair will be lifting the trophy. Sadly for Geoff and his young partner Joseph Wickham it was not a great day in the main competition but surprises do happen! Last years champions had a fine 39 points but the early clubhouse leaders were Sherborne's Jack Crockett and Rory Parnell with a fine 41 points. They were matched by John White and Mannie Wellman who had to settle for third place losing out on countback. The winners with a fine 43 points was Justin and Monica Merritt from Weymouth who were duly crowned 2018 Adult /Junior Champions taking the Bunny Cotton Trophy.
So to the team event Sherborne had two teams in the competition and managed to take both second and third slots but with Justin and Monica having 43 points along with Geoff and Joe's 30 points was enough to see Geoff eventually get his hands on on of the trophies even if it is the wrong one! So a clean sweep for Weymouth ay Dudsbury.
We thank Dudsbury for hosting this event the course was excellent as was the catering afterwards which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
