The Category I & II Championships were played at Rushmore GC on a fine sunny day, there was however a stiff breeze which would prove a good test for the players on a course looking in great condition and presented very well to the players.
The turnout was fair for the Category I and apart from the home players most found the going tough with putting seeming to be the toughest part of the game. The home players found the greens easier to handle as the scores proved with Joe Davis Rushmore taking the Category I Championship with a fine net 72 from Yeovil's James Malcolm on 74 and Weymouth's Bradley Davis was a further twos shots behind.
Category I: (For the full result sheet click here.)
Champion: Joe Davis Rushmore GC 72
Runner Up: James Malcolm GC 74
Third: Bradley Davis Weymouth GC 76
The Category II Championship was well contested but again the players found the course tough to score on and it was Rushmore Neil Bowen who came out on top again with a net 72 two clear of Somerley's Nigel Price (he is joining Rushmore) In third was Brian Hobbs from Wareham on 76 taking it on countback from Crane Valley's martin Fripp. So Rushmore did the double many congratulations to the two champions and all the players who took part.
Champion: Neil Bowen Rushmore GC 72
Runner Up: Nigel Price Somerley Park GC 74

Our sincere thanks to the Members and Management Committee of Rushmore GC for allowing us the use of the course for these Championships.
