Inter-Club Mixed Foursomes

Yeovil GC 13 August 2017

We were at a very Sunny Yeovil Golf Club for this year’s Inter-Club Mixed Foursomes and the course was in excellent condition and going to prove a challenge for those taking part. 

Scratch

The Scratch trophy was not that well contested this year with only seven of our clubs represented.  It did prove to be a stern test for the players with the home pairing of jane Southcombe and Nigel Purchase leading the way and managing a respectable 79 with their playing partners from Lyme of Melissa McMahon and Steven Mudford having the best round of the day with a great one over total of 72 to take the Championship for Lyme Regis GC.  Sherborne pairing of Adam Harris and Jo Terry also had a 79 as did Parkstone’s Morgan Taylor and Scarlett Williams.

Congratulations to Melissa and Steven on becoming the 2017 Inter-Club Mixed Champions.

Handicap

The Handicap section was once more well supported with 14 clubs represented with scoring slightly better with the stableford format used.  Pauling and Stuart Henson DG&CC held the lead with a fine 36 points two clear of Parkstone’s Simon Jones and Lynne Vretto on 34.  Last year’s Champions were back for Wareham but found the going tough with only 33 points.  Ferndown’s Peter Heasman and Jacqueline Samways then took over top spot with a fine37 points until the local pairing of Marc Harris and Jenifer Modica came home with 38 points to take the title for Yeovil.

Congratulations to Jenifer & Marc on becoming the 2017 Inter-Club Mixed Handicap Champions.

Congratulations to all who took part and we hope you enjoyed your day and the cake? We along with the players also thank Yeovil GC and it’s members for allowing us the use of their course for the Championship.
