We were at Highcliffe Castle for this year’s Inter-Club Mixed Foursomes and although the weather was overcast we had only the odd shower towards the end of the competition. The course was well presented and as always proved a stern test for both the scratch and handicap pairings.
The scratch trophy was better contested this year with last year's winners from Ashley Wood Sue Edwards and Dominic Dunstan back to defend sadly wasn’t their day. The pair of Heather Burrage and Gary Perkins Crane Valley were the early clubhouse leaders on 72 which was also matched by Broadstone’s Ashley Beckett and Louise Sims. Lyme’s Mellissa McMahon and David Lyon went one better with a 71 to take the runners up slot but Tom and Alice Plumb had the best round with a 67 to take the title.
So congratulations to Alice and Tom on becoming the 2016 Inter-Club Mixed Champions.

The Handicap section was once more well supported with 16 clubs represented and it proved once more that the course won with scoring proving difficult as there was only one two recorded in this section. There were four pair tied on 36 points each until Crane Valley pair of John & Rachael Hatch came in with a fine 37points. They held the lead right until the last pair home of Elaine and Martyn Perry from Wareham who had a fine 38 points which gave them the handicap trophy for 2016
Congratulations to Elaine and Martyn on becoming the 2016 Inter-Club Mixed Handicap Champions.
Congratulations to all who took part and we hope you enjoyed the day? We along with the players also thank Highcliffe Castle for allowing us the use of their course for the Championship.
