With the sun shining we were back at Wareham for this year’s Cyril Nash Memorial Trophy event which now incorporates the English Junior Champion Club qualifier. We had a very good field with some senior players mixed up with the young guns. There was some excellent golf to watch and it never ceases to amaze how well these youngsters can hit the ball. The early scores in indicated that given the breeze that was blowing scoring was proving difficult with the early leaders coming home with 36 points were Alex Johnston Weymouth, George Thompson Ferndown and Jack Kerslake Weymouth with Broadstone’s Rhys Harrison. George Thompson came home with 37 points and held top spot for a good while until Konstantinos Parthenis came in with a stunning 39 points which was not bettered. Lewis Gilligan DG&CC had 37 and a better back nine to take second spot from George.
First Place: Konstantinos Parthenis Broadstone / Sturminster 39 points
Second Place: Lewis Gilligan DG&CC 37 points
Third Place: George Thompson Ferndown GC 37 points

So which team would be going to Frilford Heath to play in this year’s EG Champion Junior Club? The lead ebbed and flowed between the teams as the score were entered but after an absence from Junior Golf for several year’s Dudsbury A clinched it by one point on 99 from Weymouth A. So they will go forward to the finals at Frilford next month.
First Place: Dudsbury A 99 points
