Lyme was in great condition given the rain thrown at it during the night and morning the fog had lifted and we had a 30 minute delay to give the rain a chance to stop which it did and by mid-afternoon the sun was out. I have to say the clubs have been disappointing in not entering pairs but for those that did get here I think they all enjoyed the day.
The scratch pairs got us under way with the George Seed & Ian Mudford Lyme Regis out with Weymouth’s Luke Bartlett & Andrew Robson they both had 72’s and this left the Lyme pair leading on count back. Knighton’s Simon Rook & Leigh Stanger had a fine 73 but then in came the current Mid-Amateur Champion Steve Sidney and his Partner Phillip Bill from Ferndown with a cracking 71 to take the Trophy and become the Inter-Club Foursome Champions.

In the handicap event the players as always found the format tough but it is always a great experience and scoring was good. Again the home pairing of David Fidge and Robert Winterbourne led the way with 70.5 this was equalled by Parkstone’s Peter Bloomer & Derek Mantle with Weymouth’s Phil Brownsey & Mark Whyte on 71.But the day belonged to the last group and Sherborne’s pairing of Kevin Redman and Terry Pettifer who had a fine round and came home with a net 67.5 to take the Salvers and take the title of County Inter-Club Handicap Foursome Champions.
