Category III & IV Championship

 Bridport & WD Golf Club 09 September 2014

The Category III & IV Championships were played at a sun drenched Bridport & WD GC with just a slight breeze to test for the players taking part along with the rough which means keeping the ball on the fairway.   Scoring was going to be a tough and that was evident when the club captain Phil Dowell who led the way could only manage a net 83 but was congratulated on his pace of play.
Ray Francis of Rushmore who went out in 38 but much to his annoyance slipped up on the back nine took the clubhouse lead on 74.  Ray sat holding the lead for some time only to be pipped at the end by Ferndown Forest’s Andy Hunt who also had a net 74 but took the Category III Championship on count back. Third spot went to Highcliffe Castles David Roberts with a net 77.

The Category IV Championship followed on out after the Category III and again it proved a struggle for some with the rough getting the better of those that found it! One player who did enjoy it was Ashley Wood’s Dave Bligh who plotted his way round the course to come home with a net 70 and the club house led for the Category IV’s.  Andy Pulman from Bournemouth and Meyrick Park was in second spot on 75 just pipping Knighton Heaths Brain White who also came home in 75.  A tough but enjoyable day for all that took part.

Dave will go forward to next year's EG Gold medal event.
