Knighton Heath was in great condition and with the sun shining it was an ideal day for some fine golf. The scratch pairs got us under way and the Parkstone pair of Bob Nichol and Vince Joyce were early leaders on 78 but chuntering about the 10 shots on the twelfth, having been only one over halve way! Broadstone pair James Chapman and Simon Percy (78) took over the lead on count back, then also with 78 were Matt Walker and Alan Stickley from Came Down who took over top spot. The Yeovil pair Simon Coates and Ian Stamp took over with a fine 77, after a fine eagle on the fifteenth which sadly was then followed by two double bogies!! The best round belonged to Mike Chapman and Andrew Roy who came home in 75 to take this year’s scratch championship.

Congratulations to Mike and Andrew on becoming the 2014 Inter-Club Foursome Champions.
In the handicap event the players as always found the format tough but there was some good scoring, last year’s winners were here to defend their title and came home with a net 72.5 but this was bettered by DG&CC pair Terry Falck and Paul Yerby with 72 and this was equalled by the home pairing of Simon Rook and Leigh Stanger who were unhappy at dropping two shot in the last three holes. Steve Pardey and late replacement Roger Lewis from Ashley Wood took over top spot with a fine 71.5 but the day belonged to the Bulbury wood pairing of Mike Horlock and John Child with a fine net 69.5 which secured them the Handicap Championship.
