Crane Valley was in great condition and given the poor weather forecast was going to be a stern test for all involved in this year’s Inter-Club Foursomes Championship. Once again the forecasters were right and the rain did appear half way through with all players getting a good soak that said the greens were superb and held up well.
There were 4 78’s in and the pair of Mike Burgess & Joe Mercer from Dorset Golf &CC had the best back nine from Yeovil James Malcolm and Martyn chant, Weymouth’s Pete Corrick & Tom Robson and finally Remedy oak’s pair Simon Booth & Andrew Morris but then came Broadstone’s Ashley Beckett and Rob Atherton to take the title with a fine 75.

Congratulations to Ashley and Rob on becoming the 2013 Inter-Club Foursome Champions.
In the handicap event the players found it hard going as they got the worst of the rain but the scores were still good. The Ashley Wood pair of Danny Miller & Ian Wells who were trying to retain the trophy for the club were in contention with a fine net 73.5, this wasn’t bettered until, Phil Allen and Jamie Purser of Wareham came home with a gross 74 net 69.5 which secured them the Handicap Championship with second place going to Stefan Foley and Sam Allen representing Bulbury Woods with a fine net 72.5
