Ashley Wood was in superb condition and it was going to be a stern test for all involved in this year’s Inter-Club Foursomes Championship the sun shone at the start of the event with a gentle breeze but the cloud came in and the breeze pick up to make it more challenging for those competing.
James and Tom Higgins from Highcliffe got off to a great start with an eagle birdie start but a double at the tenth and seventeenth left them on 74 and wondering what might have been. Conversely the winners from Canford Magna Darren Browning and Ben Marshall got off with a bogey, bogey start but held it together for a 73 and the 2012 championship.

In the handicap event the players found it hard going early starters Danny Anderson & Matt Doughty came home with a net 70 which included an eight at the par four tenth! But it was good enough to hold the lead all the way through until the last group came home, in this group were the 2010 winners Steve Fripp and Jonathan Walbridge from Ashley Wood and when they bogied the last they though their chances had gone but it turned out a 69 was just good enough to give them the title back after a year’s absence. Third place went to Robert Ashley-Roche & Simon Baker Canford Magna Golf Club on 74.5 winning on count back from the Knighton Heath pairing Mark Amey & Andy Nicholas.
