South England Boys Championship 2010

 Yeovil and Sherborne and 03 & 04 August.

This year's competition got under way under dry and sunny conditions at Yeovil GC and what a great morning's golf with conditions ideal the scoring proved to be good first in was SEBO stalwart Daniel Ellis- Banbury with a great 67 4 under par. Nick Ward one of the under 15's came home in 69 along with Jonathan Grey Robbie Mabb Tomasz Anderson Tyler Hogarty and another under 15 Ben Isaac. Harrison Greenberry equalled the lead with a 67 but the morning belonged to Ben Taylor from Walton Heath who came home with a fantastic course record equalling 64 to take the club house lead. 14 boys were under par after the mornings round so to the afternoon. The wind did pick up and from the early starters it was clear scoring was more difficult, Both Daniel and Harrison shot level par to tie in second place after 36. A good 68 from both Jimmy Mullen and Craig Cameron saw them climb up the leader board. Ben could not match his morning round but still managed to shot 67 to put him self at the top on 11 under some seven shots clear of the field as we head for Sherborne.

With the forecast for rain it was nice to arrive and find the sun shining although that did not last and we had some torrential showers through out the morning, this made scoring more difficult with our leader slipping to a 74. Tomasz Anderson did not let the rain showers put him off as he came home with a splendid 5 under par 67 one of only 5 to break par. So having made the cut the players went out for the final round and it was still possible that our leader could be caught. Ben came home in a one over par 73 and must consider him self fortunate to see his ball hit the wall behind eighteen and come back into play allowing him to make a very good par. Craig could not maintain his momentum and had a 75 but which allowed Harrison Greenberry with a fine 68 to pinch third place. Tomasz played well but need to replicate his morning round if he was to catch Ben a good level par saw him come up short but securing second spot overall.
