On an overcast and breezy morning the County Inter-Club Foursomes got under way at a well presented Weymouth Course it was some what disappointing that the turnout from our clubs was down this year. That said three time winners John Pounder and Gary Earl from Yeovil led the way with local pair Robbie Mabb and Jon Welch, defending Champions Tony and Tom Lawrence from Sherborne were out second. The sixteenth seemed to be the undoing of some good cards as players found the hole hard into the wind and there were a few double figure scores recorded (average score was 7.5). Parkstone had a strong pairing in David Norton and Tom Peacock came home with the best round of the day a stunning 69 the only players to break par. Broadstone's Ashley Beckett and Richard Pearcy came second on 75 closely followed by Tim Harty and Gaz Hawkins Bournemouth & Meyrick Park on 76.

Congratulations to David and Tom on becoming the 2010 Inter-Club Foursome Champions.
The handicap section is understandably better supported and with last years champions Ben Miller and Matt Lambert from Folke back to see if they could defend their title sadly it was not to be. Again players found it tough going local pair Calvin Drage and John Gough were in first with a two over net 72 and they were not happy with the 5 shots dropped over the last 4 holes they now had to sit and wait to see how that finish may cost them? Alan Stickley & Dave Hargreaves Came Down had a net 74.5 along with Carl James & Ray Long Bulbury Woods. The winners who only paired up the evening before were last in and it was the Ashley Wood pair of young Jonathan Walbridge & Steve Tripp who came home with a net 69.5 to take the title and our congratulations to them both.

I would like to thank all the clubs that took part making this a very successful event and let us keep this going for 2011 as we go to Broadstone GC.
