Salisbury and South Wilts played host to the league match between Dorset and Wiltshire. On what was a beautiful day the course was in superb condition and all the lads were really looking forward to it.
The morning foursomes didn’t go as well as we had hoped, Bastow & Moore looked in control but unfortunately lost their last 3 holes to lose 1 down. Griffiths & Tollman struggled to keep the ball in play and crashed out 4&3. Fortunately we did pick up 1 ½ points meaning we were only 1 point behind going in the singles.
The afternoon proved to be full of drama! With 5 of the 8 matches finishing on the 18th and the others on the 17th it was never clear who would come out on top. Tom Bastow picked up a massive point coming back from 4 down to win but in was perhaps Oscar Thomas’s fantastic birdie 2 on the last, securing himself a ½ point that meant we earnt a draw from the match. The ever dependable Andy Su eventually closed out his match 2 & 1 to mean the 2 side finished even.
A great day and a great match.
