Founded in 1923, the DCGU is a non-profit organisation which devotes its resources  to the administration of amateur golf in Dorset. Affiliated to the English Golf Union it is our job to look after golf at county level for the 31 member clubs of the union ...

The Objective of the Union shall be:

  1. To further the interests of Amateur Golf.
  2. To assist in maintaining a uniform system of handicapping.
  3. To arrange a County Amateur Championship and such other Championships, Competitions and Golf Meetings as the Executive Committee, with the sanction of the Council, may from time to time decide.
  4. To co-operate with the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews and the English Golf Union in all matters relating to Amateur Golf.
  5. Our work includes the assessment of courses for Standard Scratch Scores, handicapping, County Championships, inter-club matchplay events and junior golf the life line for all clubs and provides advice and guidance on a wide range of golf related subjects.
The Dorset County Golf Union will consider contributing to the expenses of any player who represents the county in an event or match that is played from scratch. In addition the Union will consider contributing to the expenses of a player who is playing in a National Event.
