Dorset’s 3rd match of the season saw them take on Cornwall at St Austell Golf Club. After a very wet practice round the day before, against all forecasts the sun came out blazing for the match day.
The foursomes got off to a fair start with the top match struggling a little on the early holes. Alfie and Harrison were in confident form after winning their last foursomes match. They didn’t let us down and came in 3&1 winners. Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be for Ollie and Zac who lost the last 2 holes of their match to be narrowly beaten. The new partnership of Kai and Phoenix proved strong as they won comfortably.
The singles got off to a nail-biting start. If the match had finished after 9 holes we would have seen a tied fixture. We moved into the back 9 and it was still all to play for. Matches were swinging back and forth, and it was becoming difficult to work out who was winning most of the time! Unfortunately our lads just run out of steam on the closing holes to lose the singles 5.5 to 2.5 which I think flattered Cornwall on this occasion.
