After several months our County Team finally took the field in a 'friendly' against Gloucestershire at The Kendleshire.

Rather fittingly, the match as a whole was halved, with both the morning foursomes and afternoon singles ending in deadlock.

The foursomes were particularly tight, with three of the five games going down the challenging par 3 finishing hole on the Badminton course. Dorset had slightly the better of that hole, but a 2.5-2.5 score line at lunch left the match finely balanced.

With the “Rock” Mitchell leading us out in the singles it was a great move by the Captain as Harry brought the first point home with a resounding 6&5 win closely followed by Luke Hirst winning 2 up.  We lost the next two matches and then the Captain regained control winning 2&1 putting us back in the lead.  This was short lived as Oscar, Sam and Callum all went down in tight matches.  Tom Kollberg gave us hope with a fine 3&2 win just leaving last year’s Captain Tom out on the course needing a win to force the draw and he did not disappoint winning 2 up.  Well done all a very fine result.   7.5 – 7.5

Our thanks go to the Gloucestershire team for making us welcome and giving us a very competitive match.  Also we would like to pass on our thanks to The Kendleshire and its members for making everybody feel so welcome. We look forward to hopefully meeting back up with them at SW Week next year.
