A dry but windy day at Ashley Wood saw Dorset Seniors host Kent Seniors in our South East League match.

The course was very dry and bouncy after the recent hot weather but the greens were good and holding.

Kent who have just qualified to represent their region in the England Golf National County Finals fielded a very strong side hoping to further their chances of winning the South East League prior to their trip to the Finals and Dorset had a couple of their stronger players unavailable.

Selwyn Burke playing at no 1 made a very strong start and was quickly in control of his match. Our newly crowned South West Seniors Champion, Tony Coles, had a very tight match on his home course but managed a hard fought win. Dorset Senior Champion, Andrew Morris, also quickly established a commanding lead and came in with a comfortable win, as did Ashley Beckett.

With Todd Sothcott halving his match on the 18th we needed Paul Tompkins to win to get the result which he duly did again on 18th.

We welcomed Paul Bodle, making his first appearance for the Dorset Seniors, who just missed out on getting a result and has now played County Golf in all age groups.

A great result for the Senior Team and we now go to Surrey in September for our last match of the season.
