The Dorset Boys Under 14’s had their first match of the season against Wiltshire at the picturesque Rushmore Golf Club. Wiltshire were unbeaten last year and with 6 of the 8 Dorset boys playing their first ever match it was always going to be tough.
The foursomes started in pleasant conditions but the results quickly started to go against us. Foursomes is a hard format at the best of times but even more so playing in your first match. The boys did get a little nervous, and only Ollie T and Zac managed to squeeze ½ a point.
The afternoon singles was to prove similar but was very much spoilt by the torrential rain that came in. The boys got truly soaked and the greens started to puddle later on. On the bright side, Oliver Clegg managed to win 5&3 against their number one player and Zac Jelley won playing in his first match.
We now wait for the summer holidays to play our remaining fixtures.
