The match was played at Burhill against a strong Surrey team that required a 9-1 victory to claim this years southern section title and it was a team packed with an English Champion, ex tour players and current internationals to try and complete the task. They did in fact come up short as John Smith, Paul Lucas and John Busby secured wins for the team to take 3 points from the ten available.
