Dorset Seniors played Hampshire Seniors at The Ashley Wood Golf Club on Thursday 20 July.
We were up against a very strong Hampshire team with an ex Walker Cup player leading their team and an Ex Professional and former international in second place in their team.
We had a reasonable team representing Dorset but the quality in depth of the Hampshire team with their strong leading pair proved too much for us on the day and we lost 7 1/2 - 2 1/2.
We lost 3 matches which went down the 18 th hole and had we had favourable results in these the score would not have been so one sided.
Tony Coles, the current Dorset Seniors Champion has an excellent win in the second match and Vince Joyce had an impressive 4/3 win against an experienced opponent.
We unfortunately do not have the top end quality that some of the other teams in our league have at present unless we are able to field all of our best players in the team , which to date we have been unable to do. However we now go to the SWCGA competition at Orchardleigh GC against hopefully more evenly matched opponents.
