It gives me great pleasure to announce that from Wednesday 8 July England Golf will welcome applications from affiliated golf clubs and facilities seeking assistance via The R&A’s Covid-19 Support Fund........
County President Eddie Galjaard Yeovil was at the helm for the 32nd Annual Dinner his final event before handing over the reins to John Gordon Parkstone. It was not a packed house this year as several pulled out due to Covid-19. We were well looked after by all the staff in the ever popular Bentleys Restaurant a venue that has been so successful over the last years, we were once more looked after admirably by the staff who provided all present with great food and service.
We had Jenny Clink the current England Golf President who gave an outstanding speech to set the tone for a great finale to our evening. The evening was completed by our after dinner entertainer Jed Stone who on the third time of asking made it down to Dorset.
Our guests from around the counties were Jenny Clink EG President, Stephen Butterfield President SWCGA, Alan Robinson Gloucestershire, Mike Ellis Cornwall, Ray Smith Sussex, Richard Pascoe Devon, Geoff Ogden Somerset, along with Simon Marchesi from our Sponsors Ringwood Brewery. I again applaud all the clubs who attended along with their members who travelled from all around the County to support the dinner making it a resounding success once more.
On completion of an excellent the meal our Master of Ceremonies Mr Philip Gardner got the main part of the evening under way, with me starting off proposing the loyal toast.
We were then heartily entertained, firstly by Jenny Clink giving us an insight to golf at National level followed by Eddie with an excellent informative speech on golf around the County delivered eloquently and touching on matters that are of concern to us all.
The night was then topped off by a superb performance from our long awaited entertainer Jed who had us all stiches with his great humour to finish an excellent evening.
A great night and I look forward to greeting you all at the 33rd Annual Dinner planned to be held once more at Dudsbury on Friday 12th March 2021 so please make a note in your diary and I look forward to seeing you there.
