Category III & IV Championship

 Dudsbury GC 12 September 2012

The Category III & IV Championships were played at Dudsbury as our belated summer was hanging on it was a warm day with a stiff breeze which would I test all the players.  With eighteen of our clubs represented in this category it was going to be a tough battle.  Peter Keeping  Peter Keepingfrom Parkstone was first out and found the course to his liking coming home with a fine net 70 of a thirteen handicap a lead he was to hold and as others tried hard to better it.  Patrick Dignam Came Down with a net 71 was left thinking about the double down the seventeenth!  Broadstone's Derek Stone did well and enjoyed his afternoon taking third spot with a good net 74.  Local favourite Steve Bedford came home with a 75 and must have been thinking hard about his two triples on nine and seventeen!  So congratulations to the early pace setter Peter on becoming the 2012 Category III Champion now all he could do was sit and wait to see if it was good enough to take him to Woodhall Spa next year.

Congratulations go to:

The Category IV Championship saw twenty clubs represented and from the early scores in it appeared they were finding it tough going with the course coming out on top.  David Poulton Parkstone set the early lead with a net 80 this was not bettered for some time then Nigel Steffiere Gregg SandersSherborne came home with a very respectable 73 to take the lead.  The last but one group out was where the golf was being played with Roger Crowfoot trying to match his club team mate Rob Simms by winning the trip to Woodhall and he had a great chance with a superb net 68 off a 26 handicap but no! His playing partner Gregg Sanders from Weymouth was having none of it and he had a blinding net 67 off a 19 handicap to take the Category IV Championship and the trip to Woodhall Spa.   We spare a though for Joe Gough from Wareham who had a 15, 10and 11 on his card but did not NR, great credit to him for that and a lesson some could learn from.

Congratulations go to:
